COURSE DESCRIPTION: An introductory level course that will inform students about who they are as citizens of the United States and how past events have shaped the world we live in today.
MATERIALS REQUIRED:
1. Notebook – Each student must maintain a three-ring history binder with dividers
The binder must be organized in the following fashion:
o Section 1 – “Class Notes” (Filled with notebook paper)
o Section 2 – “Returned Materials” (This is where you will keep material returned to you by the instructor)
· The binder will be checked and evaluated at the instructor’s discretion
GRADING SCALE:
· Major tests, projects, presentations, and essays = 45% · Daily grades such as quizzes, worksheets, homework, etc. = 35% · End of Course Test = 20%
SCHOOL RULES:
All school rules will be enforced within the classroom, including, but not limited to:
· ID’s are worn during the school day at all times (including in my class; NO ID = NO ADMITTANCE TO CLASS)
· Cell phones/electronic devices are NOT permitted during class periods unless authorized by the teacher
· NO hats are permitted to be worn in the school building (including in my class)
CLASS RULES/ PROCEDURES:
· Be Prepared (Bring all materials to class, be in your seat when the bell rings, keep up with class readings, etc.)
· Be Respectful (Respect your peers, do NOT speak while I am instructing the class, take care of the classroom, etc.)
· Be Productive (Follow all directions the first time, stay on task at all times, turn in work on time etc.)
MISBEHAVIOR CONSEQUENCES:
· 1st Violation: Warning
· 2nd Violation: 15 minute detention
· 3rd Violation: 30 minute detention/parent contact
· 4th Violation: Office referral
MISSED WORK AND MAKE-UP WORK POLICY
· Students have two days to make arrangements with teachers for making up work
· Special circumstances may warrant teacher or administrative discretion for allowing different arrangements.
CLASSROOM ELECTRONIC USE POLICY:
· Electronic devices (cell phones, iPads, tablets, music players, etc.) are to remain on silent and put away during class time, unless the teacher has instructed to use them for a class activity. Failure to follow this guideline will result in confiscation of the electronic device for the remainder of the period. Continued failure to follow this guideline will result in disciplinary referral
· Digital recording (audio and/or video) or photography with electronic devices may not be done without prior approval of the teacher. ASK before taking pictures of class notes or recording any activities. Failure to do so will result in confiscation of electronic device and/or disciplinary referral
